Restore The Appearance Of Stained Render

Exterior render can gradually become discoloured by algae, mould, airborne dirt and other organic growth. Black and green staining can make a property look tired and may create the impression that repainting is the only option.

We assess the render and any visible pre-existing damage before recommending a cleaning method. Where appropriate, a controlled softwash treatment is used to target the organic contamination without relying on aggressive high-pressure cleaning.

Render cleaning can significantly improve the appearance of a surface, but it does not repair cracked render, loose coatings or existing structural damage. Any concerns identified during the assessment will be discussed before work begins.

Render Softwashing In Bledlow Ridge, Buckinghamshire

The customer wanted the stained render cleaned so they could properly assess whether the property needed repainting.

The white painted render had developed black staining and organic growth, alongside some slight pre-existing surface damage. After assessing its condition, we applied a controlled sodium hypochlorite softwash treatment to target the contamination and restore the appearance of the gable.

The cleaning produced a substantial visible improvement and allowed the customer to judge the underlying painted finish more accurately. They were overjoyed with the completed result.

What Can Render Softwashing Treat?

Softwashing is primarily used to target biological and organic contamination rather than every type of mark or discolouration.

Depending on the surface and its condition, treatment may be suitable for:

• Black and green algae staining
• Mould and mildew
• Moss, lichen and other organic growth
• Dirt held within biological buildup
• Weather-related surface discolouration

Rust marks, failed paint, efflorescence, cracks and staining caused by underlying defects may require a different solution or may not be removable through cleaning alone.

Every property is assessed individually because the same treatment strength and application method should not be used indiscriminately on every rendered surface.

Render Cleaning FAQs

Please reach us at contact@jfsexteriors.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

No. Render systems, paint coatings, age and condition vary considerably. We assess the surface before confirming whether softwashing is appropriate and what treatment method should be used.

We do not rely on aggressive high-pressure cleaning for delicate rendered surfaces. The method is selected according to the render, coating, contamination and existing condition.

Softwashing is particularly effective against algae, mould and other organic growth. Rust, failed paint, mineral deposits, cracks and staining caused by underlying defects may remain or require a different solution.

Not necessarily. Cleaning can reveal the true condition of the existing finish and help you make a better-informed decision about repainting, but it cannot restore failed paint or repair damaged render

Visible pre-existing damage is noted and discussed before cleaning. Some areas may require repair before treatment, while others may be cleaned with additional precautions. Cleaning itself does not repair cracks or loose coatings.

Pricing depends on the surface area, height, access, render condition, contamination level, surrounding areas and any specialist access equipment required.
